About:
I am a “Distinguished Professor” and the Creative Enterprise endowed professor at UNM’s Anderson School of Management. I am focused student success. I embrace the Academic Virtuous Cycle where good teaching leads to good service, which leads to good research which leads back again to good teaching. I used my excellence in Research, Teaching and Service to the betterment of my students, UNM programs and UNM professors.
I serve as the Spokesperson for the UNM Anderson Innovation group. I am co-director of the UNM Anderson School Management of Technology, Technology Entrepreneurship Programs and the joint Anderson School-UNM Engineering School MS-ETM program at UNM. I am the PI for the proposed MS in project management. I have many academic and business service awards including; The lifetime achievement award for commercialization of Micro and Nano technology firms from MANCEF; New Mexico tech business all-star from the state economic development department and UNM; and the Anderson’s service award. I have been recognized as one of top seven researchers worldwide in Technology and Innovation Management and one of the top 5 researchers in Technology Entrepreneurship over the past 15 years. I earned my Ph.D. from RPI.
I have written over 200 archival academic and practitioner articles, books and book chapters. I currently provide a monthly column for the New Mexico project management community through Sandia National Laboratory and have written columns for a number of years on disruptive emerging technology focused (IoT, MEMS and Nanotechnology) in two practitioner journals most recently the Industrial journal named Commercial Micro Manufacturing International. The names the columns are Anderson Project Management Educational Corner and the others were “The Disruptive technology Commercialization Corner.”
I have “Real World” experience. I was a manager at a division of a fortune 500 firm, a project and program manager, and a general manager for small and medium sized firm. I currently serve on organizational boards. Finally, I am serial entrepreneur that has helped to attract tens of millions of dollars to firms where I was either a founder, president and or vice president. I continue to be involved mainly in the emerging technology commercialization space. More specifically my industrial career focused on semiconductor materials, Pharmaceuticals, Ceramics, Pheromones. MEMS and Nanotechnologies, Venture Capital and potentially Disruptive Technologies. During the last twenty years I have focused on technology project management and commercialization of emerging technologies like Micro, Nano, biotechnologies, Additive Manufacturing, the medical 4 p’s, IoT, Blockchain technologies and the technology harbingers of the next Industrial revolutions (I4.0 etc.). I am the president of Janus Ventures Inc. a consulting firm.
I further serve as chair of the Trillion Sensor Systems group and am focused on infrastructure development. I consult to firms, organizations and enterprises in the spaces above especially in high consequence industries. I am an IT professional and serial academic and business entrepreneur.
