Dr. Yorgos Marinakis is the first professor from the Anderson School of Management to have a joint appointment with a National Laboratory. He is the first UNM professor to have a joint appointment with Los Alamos National Laboratory. He has already published numerous top-tier articles and has been recognized by his academic field as an expert by having two top-tier special issues where he is the co-special issue editor. He is most proud of his students working on grants that he is a Co-PI winning statewide awards for community-engaged learning and research. He is very active in the New Mexico community as well as in his academic community.
He is a registered U.S. patent attorney and a member of the National Association of Patent Practitioners. He is admitted to the New Mexico and Massachusetts State Bars. He has a B.A. in mathematics from San Jose State University; a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, a J.D. and an MBA from the University of New Mexico; and holds a Management of technology Ph.D. from the University of Twente. He has worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Lockheed Martin Technical Operations, and Fidelity Management and Research Company. He is an exceptional 21st century academic with business experience and academic excellence. He brings that knowledge to the students in the classroom and his state, national and international service communities.
